Upcoming Winter Sports

Girls' Basketball

Basketball season is upon us, and players from Harding’s girls’ basketball team are excited to get the season started. Last year, Harding girls’ basketball had an overall record of 12-11, but some of their best players from last year graduated. Returning players Kamarice Jackson and Aniya Mitchell think they’ll still be able to rise up and defeat the toughest team: Clearfork. Come to cheer them on at the first home game on November 23rd!

Boys' basketball

The boys basketball season started with the first practice on October 28. They have not selected captains yet for this season. One of the varsity basketball players says that “our toughest opponent is Shelby this year.” Come cheer on the basketball team at their first game on November 23.

Swim

Harding swimmers are ready to go for the winter season even though the boys have lost a few players to graduation. Athletic director Mr. Kearns believes they’ll still do well and is counting on returning swimmers Alexander Lisiecki and Cameron Williams. On the other hand, the girls have a lot of more experienced players like Abe Smith and Callie Beary. Beary says, “I’ve taken a break from swimming over this last year, so I’m ready to get back to doing what I love.” She thinks the hardest team to beat will be Ontario.

Wrestling

Wrestling season is also on its way, and wrestlers are just as excited as other athletes. Last year, Harding wrestling had a winning record and made it to the state championship with Samson St. Germaine and Nate Cunningham as lead placers. Mr. Kearns also mentions that there are plans for there to be a girls wrestling team at Harding in the future, as right now there are mostly boys.

Bowling

Boys captains for the season are Jayden Combs and Cameron Rayer, and the girls captain is Kenzi Vaught. Their plan for the season is to win the MOAC and after that take the state championship. The bowling team’s toughest opponents are River Valley and Pleasant.

Come out and support them at the first match on Tuesday November 22 against Ashland at Coopers Bowl.
