Robotics: Competition and creativeness

While only a few people might know exactly how long Robotics club has been going on, some seem to believe it’s been going on forever, or at least think that's how it should be. Many believe robotics is a place full of passion, creativity and fun competition.

Mrs. Holden is the current teacher leader of the robotics club, with some members including Dakota Allee, Olivia Burdette, Alexandra Carswell and Preston Price. In an interview with Olvia, she said “It’s pretty lax on the showing up thing so the fact we have as many people showing up as consistently as we do is good.”

When asking Mrs. Holden about competitions she said “We've had 1 competition so far. That was november 4th. We placed 16th out of 28 teams which is really good as of late and for our very first competition. We made the finals.” and when asking about competitions with Olivia she said “ overall we've been to states and to worlds a couple times”

The creativity and passion of the robotics club is also very apparent. Mrs. Holden says “They bother me all the time because they are so passionate about Robotics. I don't have to do much to get students to work on the robots.” Olivia Burdette said just about the same thing “They’re people in this club that are pretty invested in it, especially the new freshmen coming in.”

Some people's passion for robotics can be found even before high school with the robotics program in the middle school here in Marion. Olivia started robotics in middle school because of friends, and has continued to make friends and memories ever since.

Robotics club meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school in room 3 from 2:30-4:00. You can just show up, Holden saying “We welcome more people to the robotics club even though we’ve already started.”
