Mr. Sheline

Mr. Sheline is a new English III teacher here at Harding. This is Mr. Sheline’s 4th year teaching overall but his 1st year teaching at Harding.

Before coming to Harding, Mr. Sheline was an elementary school 5th grade English teacher at United Preparatory in Columbus City. Mr. Sheline decided he wanted to come back to high school after teaching elementary school because it is a lot easier to build a 1 on 1 relationship with students and they are a lot more engaging and they are easier to talk to.

Mr. Sheline was inspired during his high school English years, which is what turned him into an English teacher himself. “I had a really annoying English 3 teacher that probably influenced me way too much,” but annoying in a good way. His teacher encouraged him a lot in English to explore genres when reading, which made it a really easy transition to becoming an English teacher.

If Mr. Sheline didn’t become an English teacher, he would have become a journalist. Mr. Sheline was originally going to college for journalism, but he changed his major 6 months in.
