Harding’s Number One Coffee Shop Stop!

You might have noticed a certain smell in the mornings as you walk through the halls. Or maybe someone mentioned a place called “The Harding Brew” while walking to class. Well The Harding Brew is in fact real!

The Harding Brew is a coffee shop located in the lunchroom during first period, HQ, and second period. Harding Brew is run by level 2 or higher students in the business and marketing career path here at Harding. This class and Harding Brew is run by Miss. Davis.

Although the coffee shop is a real business, Miss. Davis also said it is a lab for her students. “The coffee shop just gives an opportunity to apply some of the things they learned in class to a real life business.”

The Harding Brew works out of a stall in the lunchroom. The stall was student made from students of the construction program at Withrow. The letters included on the stall also are made from students of the welding program.

However, The Harding Brew does not plan to operate from this stall for forever. “ We are hopeful to get a physical location and not just the cart… it’s kinda a pain to set it up every day. We're hopeful that we can find a space in the school that we can call home and just base the Harding brew out of.”

The Harding brew has other plans as well. Miss. Davis said “We are getting some tables and chairs so we're hoping to build a community around the Harding Brew. Maybe some kids could hang out during HQ. Or book club could have their meetings. Or any student organization could utilize our space.”

Originally, The Harding brew did not plan to sell to students, for it was not within the business plan the marketing students wrote up. But after seeing a demand, they revisited the business model and have included students in the primary target market.

You might be wondering what happens to the money The Harding Brew gains while in use are put towards. The money including tips goes back into the business and marketing classes. This includes restocking the brew itself and DECA field trips. “We are hopeful to raise enough money to do some cool things, ” Miss. Davis commented.
